Requirements:

Hour Requirements: 16 hours of CE biennially for single license 24 hours of CE biennially for more than one license

Line Specific Requirements:

• Hours must be in license type held; at least 8 hrs must be in each license type held if 24 hrs (dual licenses) is required
• Excess ILR credits may be applied to satisfy the credit requirements for ANY license type
• OGI (General) credits may be used to satisfy any of the license-specific requirements-except ILR

Ethics

3 hrs - Three hours of Ethics must be completed as part of total requirement.  These 3 credit hours of insurance ethics may include insurance law and regulations.

Flood

3 hrs - Property/Casualty producers who sell flood insurance must complete the one-time 3 hr NFIP course

Long-Term Care Partnership - Training Requirement

8/4 hrs - Producers wanting to sell LTCP policies in VA must complete an 8 hr training program prior to selling and 4 hrs of ongoing training biennially thereafter.  Two of the hours of both the initial and ongoing training must be VA specific content.  Training completed for another state can be used to satisfy the non VA specific portion as long as the training is CE approved and identified as CE for LTC. Note:  Failure to complete the ongoing 4 hour training course within 24 months of completion of the 8 hour initial course, will forfeit recognition of the 8 hour initial course by the VA Dept of Insurance and will need to be completed again.

Compliance Renewal Date:**New for 2013-2014 biennium** - CE hours are to be completed by 11/30 of even numbered years

Carryover Hours: Excess credit hours may be carried over to the next reporting period, but must be reported in biennium in which course was taken

Course Repetition: Courses may not be taken for credit more than once in each renewal period
